From the studio: The photo does not need to be good. A slightly blurry phone snapshot where you can see both eyes will usually make a better portrait than a sharp photo taken from across the yard. Face first, everything else second.

Rainbow Bridge is a loose watercolor: your pet standing in a soft meadow under a gentle rainbow, painted in washes that bleed into white paper. It is the one families with children most often choose.

Always With You is charcoal and graphite on warm toned paper, the face drawn with loving detail and a single soft light from above. It is quiet and looks right in a bedroom or a hallway.

In Loving Memory Oil is a classical oil portrait: dark, softly lit background, old-master glazing, a warm glow behind the head, and a single white lily. It is the most formal of the four and the one most often given as a gift.

Watching Over places them resting among sunlit clouds, gazing gently downward, painted with a calm, weightless softness. People who describe their pet as their guardian tend to choose this one.

None of the four adds text to the art. The name and dates, if you want them, go on a small plate on the frame or on the back of the print, and the picture stays a picture.

We were founded by a portrait photographer, so here is the honest version of what matters in the source photo. The face needs to be visible, ideally with both eyes. Lighting barely matters; the style supplies its own light. Background does not matter at all; the style replaces it. Resolution matters less than you would think: a screenshot from an old social post, a scan of a print, or a crop from a group photo all work as long as the face is not smaller than a coin on your screen.

What we cannot fix: a photo where the face is turned fully away, a face covered by a hand or a toy, or a photo so small that the eyes are just a few pixels. If the preview does not look like them, try another photo before you try another style; the photo is almost always the reason.

If your pet is still with you and old or ill, take the photo now, today, at their eye level, near a window, and take twenty of them. You will not regret having them.

A memorial portrait is one of the few sympathy gifts that is about their pet specifically, which is why it lands where a generic keepsake does not. You need one photo of the pet; a mutual friend, a family member, or their own social posts (with a quiet ask) will have one.
